Sooo to kick off my first main dish recipe (if you even want to call it that) there’s none other than one of our favorites!!
Drum roll…..

LAZY SPAGHETTI
Honestly, there’s nothing fancy about it… other than one not so healthy secret ingredient.
SUGAR!!!! Whoops, I said it. I might not have mentioned I’m no health nut. I LOVE to eat and I LOVE CARBS!!!
Lazy Spaghetti Recipe
Ingredients:
2 24 oz. jars of Prego spaghetti sauce (any spaghetti sauce will work)
1 box of Angel Hair pasta
1 lb beef
1/2 cup of sugar
Parmesan Cheese
Directions
-
Brown beef in skillet and drain when finished (I don’t normally drain ours as we get ours from a relative and it isn’t very greasy).
*Start boiling the water as soon as you start browning the beef. I add a pinch of salt to speed up the boiling process.
2. Boil pasta noodles according to directions ( I use about 1/2 of the box)
3. In the meantime, add sauce to beef after it’s cooked and drained. I use 2 jars of sauce as we like a lot! Stir in 1/2 cup of sugar. Yummmm!! Sometimes I will add in some garlic powder. I generally just use the shaker and sprinkle on some.
4. Let the sauce come to a simmer while the noodles are finishing up.
5. After the noddles are cooked and drained (sometimes I add a little bit of butter to the noodles- this helps so they aren’t so sticky and who doesn’t love butter) it’s time to plate up some noodles and a heaping spoonful of sauce! We’re cheese lovers so we always shake on some Parmesan Cheese!
Some side options we enjoy:
*Applesauce with cinnamon. I recommend Rileys cinnamon! It’s a local favorite of ours and you can buy a variety kit on Amazon. The All Purpose seasoning is great too and included in the kit!
*Side salad- lettuce, cherry tomatoes, hard boiled egg, shredded cheddar cheese, and croutons, topped with your favorite dressing (similar to Texas Roadhouse’s side salad).
*Garlic bread- I buy frozen and add on some additional shredded cheese and occasionally extra butter and garlic.
*Cottage Cheese- with a dash of salt and pepper
Helpful products to use
Kitchen Aide- Kitchen Shears// The shears pictured are by Food Network. We bought them from Kohl’s several years ago. They’re no longer sold by them. I found a different set on Amazon that has great reviews! These will be next on my list to buy when we retire ours!
Ezpz- toddler mat// Okay so the mat is a bit pricey coming in at $20, but I feel you have to weigh your options. Less tipped over plates = less mess. They’re also dishwasher safe and come with a reusable bag. Don’t forget to put some water on the bottom so the plate will stick!
THE ROCK- pan // We’ve had this pan for 5 years. We bought ours from Walmart, but Amazon carries it! It’s a steal coming in under $40.
Pampered Chef- Mix N Chop // This chopper is used every time beef is being cooked! It’s also great for mashing avocado, strawberries, and much more. It’s on our kitchen must have list!
Oxo Good Grips -storage container// We got a set of these for our wedding back in 2013! They’ve since made an updated version! I use them for all of our baking goods!
If you love spaghetti as much as our family does I highly recommend getting this book, Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun. It talks all about courage and treating others how you want to be treated. Family spaghetti night paired with a read aloud is a win-win!
Enjoy!

Love the idea of a read-aloud paired with dinner…also love the “personalized” ground beef pkg. 😉

Read-alouds are the best! Especially when they have food in them! The “personalized” beef is a nice touch, right!? #shoplocal #whitakerbeef
