Winner, Winner, It’s What Mama’s Cookin’ For Dinner…

Ham Balls

Last week I shared a favorite side dish that’s perfect for the holidays. You can find it here. Today I’m sharing my moms Ham Balls.

Fun Fact – I grew up on a Pork Farm so needles to say I grew up eating a LOT of ham!! As I grew older I didn’t care for ham as much. I always wonder if other people have had this experience!?

Anyway, so Ham is usually my last choice. I prefer beef and chicken. But these ham balls are an exception and by no means do I skip out on ham during the holidays. These are D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S!!!

1. Mix the pork and ham together (I had our local butcher do this)
2.Whisk the eggs, milk and flour together and stir in the crackers
3. Add the mixture to the meat and stir to combine

4. For the sauce:
Mix the vinegar, water, brown sugar, dry mustard and flour
5. Bring to a simmer for 10 minutes

6. Drop the balls into the sauce to coat
7. Arrange in a dish (it makes a lot so I used two dishes)
8. If desired, add pineapple slices to the top (film with additional brown sugar sauce)

9. Bake uncovered 325 for 1 1/2 hours

1 1/2 Ib. ground ham
1 lb. pork
1/2 c. milk

Pineapple (optional topping)

Sauce for Above:

1 c. water
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 T. dry mustard
1 1/2 T. flour

    I plan to make these soon and I’m hoping they taste as good as my sis-in-law Nicky’s!
