Coopers Hawk Anniversary Date…

My how time flies! My husband, John, proposed to me on July 5th, 2012 and we preceded to get married on July, 5th 2013. Yes, we got married on 4th of July weekend and our wedding was held on a Friday. If you’re planning a wedding, there can be some great perks to getting married on a Friday! Some venues will offer discounts and you have a longer weekend to recover from all the festivities!! YAY!

Wow, this was 8 years ago and about 20 pounds lighter!!

Wow, this was 8 years ago and about 20 pounds lighter!!

It’s hard to believe in 7 years we’ve moved back to my hometown, bought a house, grown to a family of 5, and I’ll be in my 8th year teaching. There’s really something to be said about, “There’s no place, like home.” We love our community and are so excited to be raising our children here. An extra perk is my parents and brother and his family live here as well! Family time, really is the best time in my book.

To celebrate our anniversary this year we decided to go to one of our favorite restaurants, Cooper’s Hawk. If you’re not familiar with Cooper’s Hawk you need to check it out! They have so many locations across the United States. You currently have to make a reservation. We went at 2:15 and there were only two other tables seated.

Now, I will say we prefer to eat indoors at the location we go to as it’s connected to a mall. So we aren’t talking the typical views a winery offers with the rolling hills and breathtaking views. The views for outdoor seating would be the mall parking lot. The indoor seating offers a bar and dining side, so think casual or if you’re feeling fancy go for it!

Our Favorites:

Romance Red Wine
Pretzel bread (if you’re like me you’ll fill up on this before the main dish comes).
Calamari– This is our favorite, but they don’t currently have it due to a limited menu!
Chicken Potstickers
Crab and Lobster Bisque
Asian Slaw
Main Dishes:
BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad
The Prime Sandwich
Trio of Medallions – These come with three different toppings. I prefer to have two blue cheese and one Parmesan. I’m not a huge horseradish fan.

  1. Holly Whitaker says:

Cooper’s Hawk at Burr Ridge was my go-to when I worked in Chicago. It was adjacent to my office building and hotel home-away-from-home, so super convenient. You can’t go wrong with any of their salads and flatbreads. The chicken picatta is terrific as well. Glad you got in a day-date on your anniversary! July 5th, 2013 was super hot, as I recall.

Yes, I love their salads! I’ll have to try the other options you mentioned! You’re right, Holly, it was super hot! I’m glad we got married inside!
